TODAY'S BIG STORIES

1  Claude gets CarPlay, 24 new languages, and faster voice mode

Anthropic shipped seven app updates. Voice mode now works hands-free with Apple CarPlay, responds faster, and handles background noise better. Claude now supports 33 languages, including Bengali, Swahili, Thai, and Turkish. You can also stay signed into several accounts at once, and pull-down search is coming soon to iPhone and iPad. Meanwhile, OpenAI's Tibo Sottiaux said usage limits are doubled for Pro and Business Premium plans, effective now.

2  Salesforce will start charging outside AI agents like Claude

From November, Salesforce is launching registration and billing for third-party AI agents. Every successful call a registered agent makes through MCP or an API will use Flex Credits, which sell for $500 per 100,000. The per-call rate isn't set yet, metering starts only after 30 days' notice, and sandbox and developer orgs won't be charged. Anyone using a Salesforce MCP server must register.

3  Reddit moves toward a login wall as Google traffic dries up

Reddit says Google's AI Mode sends it no traffic, and search visits fell by more than 1 million a week on average in October. It's now pushing visitors to log in, and warned that daily users could drop by a low double-digit percentage next quarter. Its shares fell about 18% after hours.

4  Heyclicky turns your mouse cursor into an AI assistant

Heyclicky watches what you point at, listens to your voice, and answers by drawing diagrams and notes right on your screen, with no chat window. It runs on OpenAI's Sol 6.1 Ultrafast model and is available now for Mac and Windows.

5  A researcher claims AI performed brain surgery on a mouse

Gabriel Ocana-Santero, CEO of Exin Therapeutics, says in a viral thread that he gave an AI agent control of a motorized surgery rig to reduce seizures in an epileptic mouse. He says the agent chose the therapy and the brain region, then performed the injection while a licensed vet held a kill switch. He reports that Opus 5.5 refused the task and Sonnet 5 completed it. The claims haven't been peer-reviewed or independently verified, and he says a full write-up is coming.

THE AI SPENDING QUESTION

Big Tech's cloud business is booming. Investors still aren't convinced

The numbers. This week's earnings showed strong cloud growth, helped in part by AI demand. Google Cloud revenue jumped 103% to $31B, Microsoft's Azure grew 48% to $33B, and Amazon's AWS rose 39% to $46B.

The reaction. Microsoft's stock barely moved, and Amazon fell 4%. Google dropped more than 12%, its worst day ever, despite the fastest growth of the three.

The worry. Big Tech plans to spend about $750B in 2027, mostly on AI infrastructure. Investors want to know when, or if, that spending will pay off. Apollo's chief economist Torsten Slok sees no sign of an AI payoff outside the tech sector yet.

What to watch. Growth alone no longer satisfies investors. The next test is whether AI starts adding clear profits for companies outside Big Tech.
